Changed back to Filofax yesterday

I have been in my Van Der Spek Red Janet Leather Codex cover for my Hobonichi cousin for almost a year now. And using Hobonichi Cousin for over a year.

Right now though, my Cousin is half finished but I am still carrying the unnecessary pages around – the primary disadvantage of a bound book. It is heavy and big and so I changed to a Filofax for the summer (and maybe beyond). Partly because I need to carry around less over summer, but mostly because I am travelling to South Africa for more than three weeks in three weeks’ time, and I need something compact and light. I need to carry my calendar for scheduling and notepaper but not much else.

I chose this binder because it is well laid out, floppy, with compact rings (no overstuffing possible). It is great for a travel planner and wallet. It is soft and flexible (no stiffening) and slips very easily into a jacket pocket or the inside pocket of a handbag.

The set up is very simple:

I will probably be experimenting a little as regards what binder I use, but staying with personal size.

Maybe my Filofax Bromley Travel Wallet

Or my Union Jack original. Ever since I saw this original, I have hankered for one.

    1. This is by burde, a Swedish brand. I could not manage without them. I have been using them for years and years and would be heartbroken if they ever stopped making them!

  1. After being in either a6 or personal size since the 80s I moved to the personal compact size in December and about six months later I am still in it.

I travel a lot (about seven flights a month) and I need to travel light but I can’t leave important information behind. For me the compact size is the best size as I can stuff it with all I need but it won’t allow me to carry useless paper. It is lighter, smaller and thinner than my regular personals so I can slip it into any handbag and it won’t become too heavy.

I am so in love with this size that I am going to purchase an other one for work.

  2. Seems like a perfect travel companion. I especially like the vertical week on two pages, which I’ve never seen before. Enjoy your travel.
