What was I thinking?

I have recently gone from my natural light brown hair colour to blonde, which is the colour I have been for most of my adult life.

but when I was sorting through old passports and photographs in preparation for my trip to South Africa in three weeks, I found this gem…

What on earth was I thinking? And…look at those crooked eyebrows!

  1. I don’t think that it’s the brown colour that doesn’t work, I actually like the darker shade. In my opinion it’s the redness that’s a little harsh. Have you tried a cooler, lighter shade of brown? Although, you know what? What really matters is to have a hair colour that makes you smile every time you look at yourself in the mirror.

Passport photos are the worse. I don’t know why, we all end up like posing in mugshots!!!!

Ah! And I can’t resist envying your longer hair. My curly hair doesn’t behave this beautifully!

    1. Someone once told me that if I looked like my passport photo I would not be well enough to travel! I actually was going for a lighter colour but I have a lot of red in my hair and I did it at home which always goes darker. After this I had the colour stripped and went back to my natural colour for about 12 years.

  2. I think the two photos show that like wine some people improve with age. You were a good looking woman, but the dark hair and eyebrows make you look severe. Today you look fun loving. Just my opinion, for what it’s worth.

  3. Wow Janet! A part from the eyebrows and the fact that you don’t smile, I like everything in this photo.
Shorter hair suits you so well and gives class and sophistication. Also the colour of your hair – though a bit too dark- suits your complexion.
I honestly think that that haircut and darker hair are great in you.
