Keyrings

I have been looking for an unusual keyring lately and realised that nice ones are not so easy to find. The first problem is that, unless you go to a shop that cuts keys, there is no logical place to find keyrings. If shops do have them, they are scattered all over the place – the tourist section, sometimes in the shoe section, sometimes in the accessories section. They are few and far between and most of them are not very nice. I think people tend to use ones they get for free, or maybe nothing – just a ring.

I need to have a coloured keyring so I can see my keys in the bottom of my bag (which usually have a dark lining). I also need it to be durable but with no sharp edges that can scratch anything in my bag. At the moment I am using an Aspinal one I got free in Tatler magazine many years ago. I have used it for long periods for years and it looks as good as new. I am not a Tatler reader but they used to have great quality freebies by designer companies like Aspinal, Anya Hindmarch, Kurt Geiger, Lulu Guinness and so on. None of the cheap stuff that other magazines often have.

My dream keyring would be a Return to Tiffany keyring in sterling silver, but you never know if the ones on eBay are genuine, and the ones that you find locally in reputable places are too expensive, even second-hand. They are, however, sterling silver and they do retain their value.

 

 

 

I do like these Georg Jensen ones. They are not too pricey considering what Georg Jensen usually costs. My favourites are the elephant one (a bit pointy though), and the silver one that has bobbles on the end like the Tiffany.

 

And here is the one I am using at the moment. I can see it easily, it is light and easy to hold and has lasted so well. It must be at least 10 years old.

I found this Cath Kidston PVC coated cotton keyring/bag charm which I liked. It is quite big but it can hold essentials such as money and credit cards.  They come in loads of different fabrics but I liked the colour and theme of this one.
