Lead holders are sharpened by means of lead pointers. Here are four of my lead holders and 2 lead pointers. I never buy expensive lead pointers as they don’t stay sharp forever, and I sharpen my pencils before each use. I buy these little cheap ones 10 at a time and throw them away when they become dull.
I love Cult Pens as well – have been buying from them for years and never had a bad experience. Their customer service is amazing! Just looked up the Hardmuth and it looks wonderful. Definitely going on my list! Why didn’t I know about these? I always use Koh-I-Noor lead so I really should have. Do you have a model name for the Faber-Castell? Looked for them but there are so many different kinds.
I use both mechanical pencils and leadholders, in several lead sizes. I love the black lead on paper. I have one leadholder, which has an integrated pointer, however, my favourite is a Koh-I-Noor Hardmuth, which I have in several sizes. Another great idea is by Faber-Castell, which uses a wooden pencil, but has a cap with a clip to protect the nib. It has an integrated sharpener.
