Beautiful libraries by Thibaud Poirier

I love libraries. They are so peaceful and respectful and they are full of the smell of books and the possibility of learning something new or revisiting an old book-friend.

Perhaps they are losing visitors in developed countries these days due to the easy availability of information and books in digital form. But in developing countries they are still a place where people without means can find information, read newspapers, use the internet and borrow books.

Here is the public library in the town where I grew up.

I can recommend a visit to the Trinity College Library if you are ever in Dublin (and also a visit to the Book of Kells when you are there).

Thibaud Poirier is compiling a series of photographs of great libraries. Have a look at them here. He also took the photo of the Trinity library above.

  1. I love spending time in libraries. Luckily I need to do so for my job and when I’m abroad for work I always end up visiting a library. I am pleased we have so many fantastic libraries in Paris.
