Do you have a movie that you have seen over and over and still enjoy? One that makes you feel good after a no good very bad day?
Mine is Overboard. This is a movie that, if you pick it to pieces, has problems. But put all those pieces together and it is magical. A real feel good movie for when you have had a bad day. Goldie and Kurt have now been together for going on 35 years and you can see they had a whale of a time playing opposite each other in this movie. Goldie Hawn is at her best as the rich socialite. She plays it with such gusto!
If you have not seen it, I recommend it. It is from 1987 and did not receive great reviews when it came out but so many people name it a movie they love, and usually go on to mention their favourite lines:
- Tofuuuuuuuti… Tofuuuuti Klein!
- I just… ate a bug!
- Andrew? Are you going to bring me my lemon, or do I have to squeeze it from my hat?

Mine is Mean Girls. I probably know the script by heart. The Craft is a strong contender too…
Well, my all time favourite, which I have seen countless times and still enjoy, is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It evokes the most wonderful memories and emotions in me, not just because it was based on true life, but mainly because of my personal reminiscences of those days, and the fact that I was a very young man when I first saw it. It still has the power to lift me.
I haven’t seen it for ages but it is on Netflix here so maybe I will watch it over the weekend 🙂
