Shopping for the Swedish summer!

Blackout curtains, umbrella and a sleep mask!

Because I am out and about all day for work, I always carry an umbrella in my bag. I find the mini Fulton and Totes super-light ones are the best. They are small, light, and easy to carry with you at all times, but cope with all but the heaviest rain and wind. If it is really bucketing down, I usually take my large heavy-duty umbrella, but that does not happen often.

I could not survive without blackout curtains in summer, or an eye mask. I have venetian blinds inside my double-glazed windows, and two thick blackout curtains on each window, but the light still creeps in, so in recent years I have been using a sleep mask as well. These blackout curtains are also available in white, cream, beige, light grey and they block out the light just as well.

  1. I’m afraid I’ve not had much luck with umbrellas, it tends to be too windy here in the west of Scotland. I’ve had many over the years but I usually lose them, or break them. However I managed to retrieve one which I left on railings at a busy crossing in Glasgow, I remembered it hours later and it was still there when I retraced my steps to go home.

I must not need much sleep as I open my Venetian blinds before I put the light out at night. I like wakening up to sunshine streaming in, even at 4am! It was gorgeous this morning, the beginning of a good summer I hope.

I’ll tell my friend about the blackout curtains as she complains about the lighter mornings!

  2. As I was out for a walk yesterday, I thought of you and the increasing length of day, and your sleep difficulties. I must say, it would be my ideal. I love daylight and sun, and fortunately I can sleep through anything. I hope your purchases help you this year. Don’t wish away the summer, though.
