I wrote the other day about Nuuna notebooks. I have wanted to try one for ages because of the size (not too big, not too small), the paper (Swedish), the gorgeous covers, and the smaller-than-usual 4mm dot grid. Unfortunately, at the same time, I have always been a little put off by the soft covers (easily bent and buckled) which are a strange size. I usually use leather covers on my notebooks, but there are not any off the shelf ones for this size notebook. While I did not want to hide the cover artwork, such thin, vulnerable covers were really putting me off.
So, after doing some exploration on Etsy, I found one shop that had experience in doing Nuuna covers, LunaBlueBags. I sent Karen a question about making a cover for me. She replied immediately (on a Sunday evening!) that she not only had a Nuuna herself, but had made custom covers for them before.
After a wonderful conversation (Karen is so helpful and a real sweetheart to deal with), I chose a cat cover in grey with pink lining, a popper closure, and internal pockets. It was cheap and the colours just sang to me. Can’t wait to get it!
Below you can see the fabric, lining colour, popper design and internal pocket constellation I have ordered.
Below are some of the other designs Katie does for Hobonichi and other books in various sizes. She also offers waxed cotton, as well as makeup bags, toiletry cases, pencil cases, and handbags.
I agree that they are lovely designs, Janet. I have several Nuuna notebooks and the covers are the drawback. I shall have a look at the Etsy site.
I’m now speaking to Karen, she’s doing a listing for me. Great result! I ordered some Oli clips from Etsy yesterday. They aren’t easy to get in UK.
Cute designs, especially the cat one!
