Flying Tiger Five-Year diary

I found this at Flying Tiger a few days ago. It cost €4 and is rather nice. I have enough of them but will do this one as a giveaway when I have my act together and some time to set up a system of giveaways on my blog.

It is a nice purply-blue colour (always hard to photograph though, particularly in a gloomy, snowy Sweden)with sparky crimson end-papers and bookmark. The gilt page edges are nicely done and it has a nice layout.

These little books never need to be used over five years. You could use them over one year, with 5 tasks or categories for each day. It is a really nice way of condensing information into small but effective areas.

The light was a bit strange today because it is dark and gloomy so the photos are a bit dull.

  1. Hi! I have this diary and i love it! Want to give it to one of my students as a graduation gift but I don’t think Flying Tiger sells them anymore… Do you by any chance still have one left?
    Thanks!

  2. Hello, I am searching for just the right Five Year Diary, as my current one will be filled as of the end of this year. Are you selling the Beautiful Five Year Diaries now, or do you know how I might find one that is sturdy, high quality, and burgundy or maroon in color on the cover, especially maybe with a floral pattern? Any insight would be Tremendously Appreciated. Thank You, Anna

  3. Hi! I’ve been looking for this diary for days and can’t manage to find it on the internet! Are you still going to do a giveaway? Or maybe could I just buy one of yours if you still have some? That would be awesome, I really like the idea of this diary ! Thanks 🙂

    1. Hello Isadora – I gifted mine to a birthday girl a few weeks ago but I think my local branch still has some. I could buy one for you (my treat) and send it on to you. Postage may be more than the cost of the diary though. Mail me through the contact form on my blog and let me know 🙂

      1. REPLY TO: Hi, what are the measures of the diary. I couldn’t find anywhere! – Hello! it’s smal -l as you can see on the pictures it’s like a hand, max 13-15 cm on 10-13 cm.

  4. Five Year Diaries were all the rage in the UK in the early 60’s. I remember having one amongst my Christmas presents one year. In those days they all had a little locking clasp. They seem to be making a comeback, and as you say, they are multi-functional.

    1. I collect the vintage and antique lockable ones because I had them when I was little. I think they must have been a big thing from the 1920s to the 1970s. From the 1980s you tend to find fewer and fewer, sadly. They are often a really nice size as well. Portable but fit a great deal of info.
