Leuchtturm1917 notebooks

I was always a keen Moleskine user but I stopped using them a few years ago when their quality went down the drain and they turned mass market. There were also very similar versions made by every brand under the sun and I am not a fan of ubiquity.

I have recently moved to Leuchtturm. My first one was a 5 year book which I used to death last year. I then bought another one which I have not yet used. It may be going to a new home soon.

What I am using though is a Leuchtturm1917 Dotted A4 Master Classic.

The classic: Master notebook. Larger than A4, it can hold loose sheets between the pages and in the expandable pocket without the edges protruding. The Master Classic notebook has 233 non-bleeding, acid-free 100 g/m2 pages. This means that our Master Classic notebook is an indispensable treasure for all notebook-lovers. Choose between red and black covers and our 4 rulings (ruled, squared, dotted or plain).

Our Details:
•233 numbered pages
•8 perforated and detachable sheets
•Gusseted pocket for A4 sheets
•Blank table of contents and numbered pages
•Page marker
•Elastic enclosure band
•Thread-bound book opens flat
•Ink-proof paper (100 g/sqm)
•Sticker for labelling and archiving
•Dimensions: 225 x 315 mm

I particularly like these because they have an index and numbered pages. They are also bigger than A4 so you can slide A4 sheets in the pocket and between the pages without them sticking out.

The A4 (Master) comes in two sizes – Slim and Classic. The slim one has 121 pages. The colours are red and black, with the dotted only available in black.

On the other hand, the B5 (Composition), A5 (Medium), A6 (Pocket) and A7 (Mini) sizes come in a rainbow of colours, which make them hugely popular in the Bullet Journal community.

You also get the A4, A5, A6 versions of these in Black and Cognac leather, which I absolutely love. I usually use leather covers for notebooks, but there are very few that cope with the elastics in Moleskines and Leuchtturms. This leather version does away with the need for a separate cover, and comes in a gift box.

Leuchtturm also do pen holders, which I have used with other notebooks before. They come in different colours and the elastic loop is nice and narrow.

  1. Nice overview of some very nice notebooks….Like you I gave up on Moleskines due to paper quality as I use fountain pens typically. Leuchtturm paper is consisently better I’ve found.

Was not aware that they offered leather covered notebooks. Will have to see if anyone in US stocks them……

    Thanks.
