This notebook cover was a long time in the making. I have written about Glenda Slann’s work before here and here. She has an online shop, an Etsy shop,  a Facebook group and a Facebook page. She is also on Instagram.

I wanted Glenda to make me something, but was not sure what until I saw this particular photograph, where I fell in love with her designer inspired leather.

I never buy mirror copy fakes purporting to be the real thing. I have several classic monogrammed LV bags – a large bucket bag, a small Speedy and a very old Noe. They have worn beautifully. If I do buy things that LV do not make, I generally use sellers like this who repurpose old Vuitton canvas into new items. But, despite my begging several of them, none of them could make Traveler’s notebooks, even if I sent in one of my bags to be remade – I asked several of them. LV have no plans of making them.

So I went for Glenda and she really really did my custom order justice.

I wanted

  • an A5 Traveler’s notebook with room for at least 12 notebooks
  • lining, reinforcing, several pockets front and back, and a pen loop
  • bracket shaped flap with an unusual elastic fastening
  • matching pencil case
  • tiny grid notebooks

What I got was perfect. Beautifully packaged, exquisitely made. Not enormous, not heavy. Easily fits 15 notebooks. The A5 tiny grid notebooks from Glenda were perfect. The paper is thin, the grid light grey and the lines are accurate right throughout each book. Perfectly straight, perfectly lined up across every single page.

The matching pencil case perfectly complements the book, with a bracket flap and elastic closure.

In it I now have

  • 12 of the tiny grid notebooks I bought from Glenda
  • 2 lined notebooks I have from Monique at Morgan Le Fae’s Trinkets
  • 1 Regular sized grid Tomoe River notebook from Taroko Design

I am bidding on this bag at the moment but I think that I may go for a Neverfull DE instead.

And then if this one one day starts to show its age, send this one to Glenda in the hope she can do something similar with this old beauty!

Though I doubt there will be enough leather in it. What do you think?

  1. I LOVE, LOVE these!!!!!!
I have been “eyeing” her work for awhile now; I’m definitely going to place an order now!!! They are stunning!!! And they look to be very well made!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! 😍💕

  2. I am waiting for my wide with extra space TN cover from Glenda made in the ocean leather along with a pen holder and an elastic guard piece (for the want of a better word) that I will put on my smaller Teal cover that ties the 2 covers together in an ocean color scheme. Glenda and I have chatted several times and I just love her. I hope to be able to visit her in Australia one day, that would just be the icing on the cake of my bucket list. Enjoy your cover and load it up.

  3. Yes I was actually worried about the narrow opening of the bag – it has been a problem for me with my Speedy and also with my Vera Wang Coco bag, and I need to get things out of my bag all the time.

I am not sure what the price for the pencil case was as I paid for it in Australian Dollars together with the books, but I would say maybe about $60?

  4. OMGosh!! I love the smaller case (Is that the pencil case?) If I may ask what her fee was for doing that one? I would love to have one. Regarding the bag you are bidding on, I understand from watching YouTube videos about it that the opening can be challenging at times due to being smaller then the rest of the bag. So, if you like wide opening bags that might be an issue for you. I know it would for me, I would prefer the Neverfull MM or GM.
