Epica 1000 page journal part 2

Well, having written about this a few days ago I can now reveal my gift. From a dear, very old friend who knows the significance of this day for me and how much I liked these books. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness and thoughtfulness and love means the world to me.

I love it! Heavy as sin but the paper is absolutely marvelous. It is from Florence and suitable for all mediums (within reason I suppose) but perfect for even the wettest fountain pens. It is rich and creamy with a fine tooth which is just perfect for me. Despite the size of the book, it lays flat when opened so is easy to write in.

When this book arrived it was in a USPS mailing box. In that box was another box, wrapped in beautiful turquoise and brown gift paper with a brown grosgrain ribbon. Inside that was the epica box you can see in a photo below. This box was encased in tissue paper with the epica seal on it.

I have blurred out the personal message which was on the book. It was too personal even for me to show!

And these pictures from the epica website will show you how fat this book actually is!

This photo is lovely – shows how fat the book actually is!
One of my older handbound books where you can see that it is so fat the strap needs to have extra holes made in it or it won’t close. I like clasps and straps on books because they keep them closed, but they are also problematic if the book gets fatter due to things being pasted into it. The only way around it is to buy a photo album-type book or else remove every second page, allowing anything pasted in it room to take up without making the book fatter.
