Dodgy Passwords

I read this article this morning. Boy, people really don’t have a clue.

I have three levels of passwords. High level ones which I change once a month, medium level ones which I change once every six months and low level ones which I really don’t care about – like the ones where you have to register on a website in order to be able to read it. I have written about them here.

When I used to work with computers at Rhodes University in South Africa we had password crackers running round the clock to weed out weak passwords and the people concerned had their accounts locked and had to come to us for a new one. Sometimes there were queues of people out my door!
