Africology

I really like South African beauty products. They tend to be of high quality, very good at dealing with scars, sun-damaged skin and acne, and are well-priced. They use ingredients such as marula oil, Rooibos tea, African potato, aloe ferox – all plants which have learned to survive in inhospitable environs, retain water and protect themselves from the sun.

  • Nimue
  • Placecol
  • Environ
  • Justine
  • Avroy Shlain
  • Kalahari
  • Africology
  • African Potato Cream
  • Aloe Ferox
  • Victorian Garden
  • African Extracts

Africology, Kalahari and Environ are fairly easy to find outside of South Africa but they are often double the price that you would pay locally. So if you do travel to South Africa, take the opportunity to bring them home with you.

Africology is a very good brand – smells wonderful, does what it says and does not cost a lot. Plus they really look good. I would recommend their candles as well because you can use them as massage and moisturizing oil as well as a scented candle.

  1. Interesting Janet, thank you. I have a few, but not many, “sunspots”, probably a combination of age and not always using suncream, so can you advise which of the Africology products would help repair this kind of damage? Thanks.

    1. For sunspots I would definitely recommend Environ products with Vitamin A in them. They really work on sun spots and any sun damage – I am living proof of that.
