Kalahari Beauty Products

I have a love of South African beauty products – see a previous article here. They tend to use local plants in the formulations and also really know how to treat dry sun-damaged skin. In addition they are usually not particularly. My absolute favorite is Environ but I have found a new contender for that title – Kalahari.

One of my students recommended this to me. On my birthday I received a gift voucher from Ellos in Sweden. I noticed they sell Kalahari products so I bought some. They were not too expensive and I really wanted to use something that was produced in South Africa. I found the moisturizer and masks to be extremely cost-effective.

I bought the gel cleanser, toning lotion, a night cream and a face mask. Have used them all and I really like them. They are mild but effective with very nice, simple packaging. They are not strongly perfumed and do what they promise with no muss no fuss.   The only thing I don’t like is the glass bottles. I am really scared of anything glass that you need to touch with wet hands, or use in the bath or shower. The potential for droppage, breakage and glass shards everywhere is significant. Other than that though I really like them.

the african scientist and kalahari

Kalahari Lifestyle is at the forefront of the discovery and development of new African botanical compounds by working closely with several South African Universities and their Plant Sciences Departments.

African Indigenous plant knowledge is continually being researched to establish the efficacy of ancient botanical remedies and to explore the possibility of extending these hidden therapies that have survived generations to the benefit of all.

The indigenous people of Africa have developed an intimate knowledge and understanding of environment, enabling them to obtain all their food and medicinal needs from nature.   They have been able to thrive for tens of thousands of years in some of the world’s most challenging environments through their extensive knowledge of local plants; this information has been handed down through the generations and ensured their survival.

The need to develop a connection between the past and the present in which we can outline the benefits of traditional plants is more important today than ever before. It is here where the Kalahari brand has positioned itself as a facilitator ensuring the delivery of the best of what Africa’s fauna has to offer to the consumer.
