A Filofax Day

I finished my morning meeting at 12 and had some time to kill so I went to NK, where I popped up to the Mulberry concession to see if they had any more fold-out year overviews. They did not and the sales associate was not very knowledgeable or interested in the brand – or helping me for that matter. Hmm. I can understand how someone who works at Primark or H & M does not know what is going on – the group is so big and the amount of new stock is overwhelming. But at Mulberry they should at least employ people who are interested in the products.

I then went down to the stationery section and on the way I spotted this Andy Warhol Bugaboo!

As I headed towards the Filofaxes like a homing pigeon I spotted a very familiar face browsing the A5 inserts. Amanda, my daughter!

She was looking for new inserts for her A5 Domino Snake which I gave her about four years ago. Here she is using it about two years ago for her paralegal studies:

While Amanda browsed the Filofax shelves, I got a fold-out year planner, two bottles of Noodler’s Stockholm Indigo which is exclusive to NK and was 15% off. Dying to try it! It is described as:

Stockholm Indigo can be determined as a unique ink within seconds at any forensics or crime lab worldwide…right down to the bottle – it is a completely unique security ink that has specific light reflective properties and permanence that is unlike any other upon the globe – thus a “specific” security ink.

As I paid for our goodies, Klasse the sales associate told me that my Mulberry double binder was sold at NK but at least ten years ago. He says he has never seen any since. He has worked in the field for decades and is an expert on every single pen and Filofax known to man! He also knows both of us and always chuckles how I have ‘infected’ Amanda with my Filofax love. (She has my passion for handbags as well!)

We then went for lunch and I showed Amanda (who could not find the A5 Osterley she wanted) the Hungarian Filofax site, where she found her beloved orange A5 Osterley.

After that I went to my next meeting. It ended at 4pm so I scuttled off to my favourite Office Depot. It is out of the way and enormous with all the planners hidden away in the back. They have unusual binders gathering dust on their shelves. I saw some Domino Baroques, grey and pink Journeys, tiny Finsburys in jewel colours, really nice colours of Pennybridges and some nice A brand organisers on sale. Also these – Velcro binder rings! You attach the velcro and voila! Rings that sit really fast but are removable. This way you can turn anything into a ring binder! They were £1 each.

I also got this lovely little leather pocket binder with the most amazing wallet potential – 10 credit card slots, fully gussetted pocket AND a full length wallet pocket. It cost £8

All in all a rather nice Filofax day. At home I have building going on which is quite stressful so it was a nice interlude!

  1. Sounds like a fab day! Which was the last shop you went to? It looks great. I *need* some of those velcro rings! X

  2. I’ve enjoyed reading about your day. Very productive, and I’m not even counting the meetings. Finding your daughter by the filofaxes and having lunch with her must have been the icing on the cake.
