Authentic Models Leather Travel Journal

I was lucky enough to be able to buy this beautiful Authentic Models leather travel journal from Nati who was selling hers. It was brand new.

Described as: Elegant yet eminently useable. Modeled after an early Victorian travel wallet, complete with journal, card slots, and compartments galore. For months of travel, sketching, notes, thoughts, collecting interesting ephemera. Its leather ribbon allows for easy expansion, and the whole might easily be mistaken for a haute couture handbag of top distinction. Inspect the detail of the stitching, the rich feel and smell of luxurious leather, red fabric lining, and details like the hand stitched button and red zipper pull. This is a shamelessly rich and luxurious wallet for serious travelers only.

and another review from Merlin’s Tower

They describe this as a “shamelessly rich and luxurious wallet complete with leather bound journal, credit card slots, and even room for a blackberry or iPod.“I have to agree with them – it is a really nice leather wallet. I love the rich feeling buttery soft leather they used. The black leather is accented with a beautiful red leather. It really gave it that luxurious look and feel. Inside there is room to store a nice size journal (a Leather bound one comes with it) and there are a few pockets. One of which you can use to store a few fountain pens or one with a couple of other writing instruments like a highlighter or pencil your choice. There is also a back pocket that allow you to store a few index card or notes that you have taken. and in front of that you have a place to store your ID and a few credit cards.

  1. I’m way late to this post but this journal wallet is something I have always wanted since I saw one in Amsterdam’s Schipol airport. They had them at the gift shop attached to the Rijksmuseum branch in the airport. Gorgeous leather. If I remember correctly they were about US$130 and that was about 2005 and outside my reach at the time. I’ve kicked myself repeatedly since then. Authentic Models was the company that made them but don’t anymore. Hope it’s not a problem for you but I’m copying all the detail photos and am going to see if I can get one made at a leather shop here in Korea which just made a very nice leather jacket for me.

  2. I know this post is from last year, but do you know of any place that I can find this still? I’m in the US and this is the planner cover of my dreams!!!

  3. I am jealous. I have never been able to find another one of these Leather Journals. I have always love the way it felt and how it looked and how it held everything together. Nice find. Now if you ever find another one. Let me know. – DigitalAlan From MerlinsTower

    1. This one came from France (I can find our where exactly if you like). The only other ones I have found have been in the US. It is really nice – especially for travelling!
